Helsinki area
Day tickets are available for travel on trains and other public transport in the Helsinki city area (more info on the local transport authority website here). Considering the general price of living in Finland, these actually represent pretty good value, at €9 for the immediate city area (which still allows you to hammer the electrics into the ground between Helsinki and Pasila to your heart’s content!) rising to €21 if you want the flexibility of going slightly further out to Kerava or Espoo. These are available from ticket machines, and there are discounts for multi-day purchases.
